Prep Enrichment Courses
Enrichment Courses are designed as an extension of the classroom, giving students opportunities to explore new interests, develop their talents, and dive deeper into areas they are passionate about. From the arts and STEM to writing and other specialized interests, students can choose from a variety of engaging courses designed to encourage creativity, curiosity, teamwork, and personal growth beyond the regular school day.
Fall 2026 Enrichment Courses run from the week of August 24 through December 11, 2026.

Yearbook
Students will work together to capture and tell the story of the school year through photography, writing, interviewing, and page design. Along the way, they will develop skills in creativity, collaboration, organization, and visual storytelling while helping create the Great Hearts Roosevelt yearbook.
Grades: 6–12

Printmaking: Linocut Art
Students will explore the art of printmaking through linocut design, learning a brief history of the medium before creating and carving their own original artwork. They will practice inking and printing their designs on paper, beginning with smaller projects and working toward a larger final print.
Grades: 6–8

Robotics
Students will learn how to design, build, and program a robot from the ground up while developing hands-on problem-solving and engineering skills. The course is designed to prepare students to work as a team and, for those participating competitively, build toward a FIRST robotics competition.

Concert Choir
Concert Choir is an audition-based ensemble for admitted students in grades 9–12 who are ready to strengthen their vocal technique, musicianship, and ensemble performance skills. Students will prepare a variety of choral repertoire and work toward formal performances, including the Great Hearts Honor Choir Festival.

Middle School Choir
Middle School Choir is an audition-based ensemble for students in grades 7–8 who enjoy singing and want to grow their choral skills. Students will participate in vocal warm-ups, learn choral repertoire, and prepare to perform in both the Winter and Spring Concerts.

The Science of Mindfulness
Students will explore the neuroscience and psychology behind attention, emotional intelligence, gratitude, and well-being while learning how the brain responds to stress. Through discussion, reflection, and guided practice, students will build practical skills in focus, emotional regulation, gratitude, and self-awareness.

Writer’s Workshop
Students will spend the semester developing an original piece of writing while strengthening their editing, drafting, and writing-style skills. Projects may include journalism, short stories, sports writing, fashion critiques, cookbooks, travel writing, or other topics that allow students to turn their interests into thoughtful, polished work.

Prep Band
Students with or without instrumental music experience will have the opportunity to join the Great Hearts Roosevelt Pep Band and perform at school events throughout the year. The ensemble will build musicianship, teamwork, and school spirit while preparing energetic music for campus performances.

Introduction to Archery
Students will learn the fundamentals of archery while developing focus, perseverance, and confidence through hands-on practice. The course will emphasize proper technique, safety, and steady improvement, with students working toward a live demonstration at the end of the program.
